The title asks viewers to eat less so there is enough to share with soldiers, tying the household pantry directly to the fighting of the First World War. Printed in color by the Edwards & Deutsch Lithographing Company of Chicago and credited to A. Hendee, the poster reflects the food conservation campaigns the United States ran in 1917 and 1918, when families were urged to cut back on wheat, meat, and sugar so supplies could reach Allied troops and civilians. It is a good example of how commercial lithography carried government appeals into homes, storefronts, and public spaces.
